Susan represents businesses, employers, and property owners in employment law, commercial litigation, business counseling, and residential and commercial real estate matters. With more than 30 years of legal experience and prior service as Chief Operating Officer and Corporate Counsel for a multi-location retail company, she brings a practical, business-minded perspective to advising clients on disputes and operational legal issues. She also represents employers in workplace disputes and employment-related litigation and has handled matters before the Illinois Appellate Court.
Her practice focuses on providing practical, strategic counsel shaped by both her litigation experience and her background as a business executive and entrepreneur. She counsels businesses on workplace and operational issues, including employee handbooks, wage and hour compliance, leave and accommodation matters, discrimination claims, contracts, and other key business documents.
Before returning to private practice, Susan served as Chief Operating Officer and Corporate Counsel for a multi-location retail company. That experience provides a distinct perspective as counsel. She understands legal challenges not only from the attorney’s standpoint, but also from the client’s side of the table.
Susan has completed advanced mediation and negotiation training and authored the 2024 edition of IICLE’s Causes of Action: Employment Actions, Chapter 2, “Retaliatory Discharge.” She is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
She works closely with business owners, executives, and closely held companies to address legal issues that arise in the course of operating and growing a business.
